A road bike with carbon fiber frame, fork and other bits, in the era before disc brakes: That means lightweight, as in pushing the UCI lower limit of about 15 pounds. Yet stout enough to win five times on the famously cobblestone-strewn Paris-Roubaix course from 1995 to 2000 (not this one; other C40s). But maybe its greatest significance is establishing that even without lugged steel, Italian maestro framebuilders could still emblazon their name in the graphics a dozen times.
